Pharmapacks' Partner Charity for Human Disease- A Midwinter Night's Dream
Given our heartfelt belief in their mission, Pharmapacks.com has partnered with A Midwinter Night’s Dream (AMND) to donate up to 1% of profits (minimum of $1,250, annually) for the Human Disease portion of our charitable giving.
A Midwinter Night’s Dream, Inc. is an organization founded by sixteen high school students on Long Island, New York in 2004. The organization, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for ALS (more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), has four main programs. Their fundraising program is centered around an annual Gala which takes place at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York. In total, the AMND student committee members and alumni have raised over $2 million in seven years (over $500,000 last year alone). Additionally, AMND founded a Patient Services Program, a Science Research Program and has even opened their own Cryopreservation Laboratory facility located at the Stony Brook University Medical Center. Their most recent endeavor involves the founding of a Philanthropy Center where they strive to empower young students to achieve their philanthropic goals. AMND’s mission was founded on hope and the group continues to inspire all those they come into contact with.
In the winter of 2004, Northport High School Biology Teacher, David Deutsch, sat his class down. He said, "I have some bad news" and continued to explain that he had recently been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. In all likelihood, he said, he would not live long enough to see his two young sons graduate elementary school. Mr. Deutsch’s students were devastated and inspired all at once. This would mark the second teacher in their school district to be diagnosed with this terrible disease. With the guidance of Chemistry teacher and National Honor Society advisor, Don Strasser, the students rallied together and began their journey. This past January, their beloved Biology teacher attended the 7th gala benefit in his honor and the students have surpassed every goal they had once set for themselves.
A Midwinter Night’s Dream is an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In all of their inspired endeavors, the Northport students always keep their humble beginnings in mind. The students expected to raise a couple thousand dollars at their first grass-roots fundraiser, a basketball tournament called "Hoops for ALS." They raised $25,000 that day and have only continued to surpass their goals since then. However, the students do not stop at raising funds. They have lobbied on Capitol Hill for a National ALS Registry, participated in multiple wide-spread awareness endeavors and conducted ALS research at labs around the country.
AMND has formed valuable working relationships with some of the top ALS Research Centers in the world, including the Robert Packard Center and Johns Hopkins University, Project A.L.S., Columbia University, Stony Brook University, ALS TDI, the Jackson Laboratory and the ALS Hope Foundation. AMND’s Science Research Program sends over 15 students each summer to conduct research at these facilities. Moreover, in founding their own Lab at Stony Brook University, AMND continues to take a first-hand role in the search for a cure.
As AMND expands at home, it is also spreading its wings throughout the country. In the past year, AMND has spread nationwide as alumni have begun their own ALS Awareness Chapters at colleges and universities.

Pharmapacks’ Partner Charity for Animal Care — Bobbi and the Strays
Given our heartfelt belief in their mission, Pharmapacks.com has partnered with Bobbi and the Strays of New York to donate up to 1% of profits (minimum of $1,250, annually) for the Animal Care portion of our charitable giving.
Bobbi and the Strays is an organization that believes animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Their purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs. Through rehabilitation, socialization and adoption, they endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into Bobbi’s care. Additionally, they generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.
In the summer of 1995, Roberta “Bobbi” Giordano was driving on a busy street when she saw a car strike a dog - and then drive away! She immediately came to the dog's aid, taking him to a vet for care. Sadly, the dog had a broken back and was unable to be saved. Although Bobbi had always been helping animals, having done her first rescue at the age of nine, it was this experience that was the pivotal one. Soon after, Bobbi quit her job in order to turn her passion for helping animals into a full-time mission. In 1998 she established Bobbi and the Strays.
Bobbi and the Strays is a 100% non-profit 501(c)(3), no-kill animal rescue organization, located in located in New York - with an adoption center in Queens and a shelter on Long Island. They rescue stray dogs and cats from the streets, and from situations of abuse and neglect. Additionally, they rescue many of our dogs and cats from “death row” at kill shelters in New York. All rescued animals are examined by a veterinarian, lab tests are completed, and vaccinations are given. The dogs and cats are then spayed or neutered, treated for any health problems and rehabilitated as necessary. Bobbi’s main goal is to find permanent, loving homes for all the dogs and cats that they rescue. We have a guaranteed return policy on all adoptions – because our goal is to place animals into good homes for life.
They also provide educational programs to schools, educating children and adults on responsible pet ownership and organizing spay/neuter services and events. They are also active members of the ‘Mayor's Alliance for NYCs Animals’.
Bobbi and the Strays has a dedicated staff and volunteers who help rescue, foster, and care for the animals. Other volunteers coordinate fundraising & adoption events and contribute to special projects as well as complete routine administrative tasks.
Donations are always needed to continue work. Donations are also needed now to repair and rehabilitate their newest shelter in Freeport, New York. Organizations such as Bobbi’s rely on the support of people like our Pharmapacks.com customers, who share our vision of a world where animals are treated humanely and adopted into loving homes – a world where organizations such as Bobbi’s will one day no longer need to exist.
